7/8/06 Went home to be seen by his home vet.
7/7/06 Drastically unsound. Gave him some bute and will call Jeff in the morning.
7/6/06New shoes with Dan White at the vet school
7/5/06 Lunged to check soundness and off to the right. Made an apointment with Dan White at ISU. He will reshoe and will involve a vet if necessary. I will keep you posted as they let me know what is up.
6/29/06 Same deal as yesterday. Warmed up fine, jumped a cross rail and very slightly off. Done experimenting with that. He needs some time off and bigger shoes at the very least.
6/27/06 Dallas warmed up just fine today on the flat. When we went to jumping a cross rail, he wanted to wobble on the way up to it, but jumped it. When he landed he was slightly unsound on the left front for 3 strides, then fine. It was so slight that I doubted it so did it another time to see if I had just imagined it. Nope, it was there. Hmmmm.
6/23/06 Dallas quite sound today. Rode him in the indoor, working on staying forward in his neck and developing relaxation in his back. Went very well.
6/22/06 I woke up yesterday in the morning, rolled over and my neck produced an audible pop. Massage therapist and chiropractor, ice and rest. Not quite back to it today, but went out and had my working student ride Dallas, with my supervision. He is vaguely off somewhere. We did some slow work to see if he would c ome out of it, and he did improve, but still just a touch not right. I did a thorough check and it turned up nothing. We gave him 2 grams of bute.
6/19/06 Played catch and release with Dallas. Between each of the horses I worked today I would go out and catch Dallas, give him a cookies and let him go to help him getter better about being caught. It was quite comical.
6/15/06 Quite sound and ready to go. Rode in the indoor for reacquantance. He is such a neat horse. He is quite resistant to the bit and a little quick with his front end and wants to stop by locking his neck. Not difficult things to deal with. Very good.
6/12-14/06 Introduced him to the small herd (two other horses) on Monday. They each met each other individually and had some time together. Then we put all three together and no fireworks, excellent. Gave him the day to acclimate. He got a pasture bonk on his left fetlock on Tuesday. No break in the skin, some generalized heat, slightly unsound. Gave him 2 grams of bute and hosed him for 20 minutes. Much improved on Wednesday, though we hosed and buted again just to be sure.
