Training Log for Bart Stone

3/6/07 Took Bart home to enjoy his pasture retirement with his friends.

2/27/07 Dr. Linda Thompson was out. We lunged him and he was quite lame to the left and not bad to the right. He flexed very unsound in both knees and his left hind due to arthritis.

2/26/07 Brought him in. Still unsound on the left front. Only thing I can find wrong is that he has really deep clefts in his hooves and could have some thrush, but unlikely to cause such lameness. Will call the vet tomorrow.

2/21/07 Bart is unsound on his left front. Tomorrow morning I will start him on bute for a few days and see if we can get it under control.

2/16/07 Worked him in the arena and he was quite sore on his left front. It got better, but it was still there at the end. I will check him tomorrow and see what is up.

2/12/07 Slow work in walk and trot with a lot of lateral work to help supple his joints. He did very well. He is happy to work and has the absolute best attitude.

2/11/07 Brought him in and rode him in the indoor. He was very happy to go and is just polite as could be. What a great attitude! He was a little unsound in trot at first, but I let him canter around to warm up and he came out of it and then was sound in trot. I'd like to see him go on MSM, which is a relatively cheap supplement that can sometimes help with creaky horses. I'll order some up.

2/10/07 Dixon came out in the late morning and did a sheath cleaning on Bart with sedation. I thought that was probably enough activity for him for the day, so gave him the day off work.

2/9/07 Picked him up at Jeff's and delivered to KMJ and got him settled in. Appointment with Dixon was cancelled due to an emergency he had to go to so we hoped to reschedule for tomorrow, depending on how his morning at the breeding farm goes.
