"Only way that horses will win is to sit there and spend time with them. Show 'em that you're trying to help 'em. Love 'em. Talk to 'em. Get to know 'em. Now that's what you gotta do. You love 'em and they'll love you, too. People might call me crazy, but that's the way it is."

Hauling Guidelines

When an agreement is made to haul a horse, a spot is reserved for them, and others who might have wished to have that spot are turned away. This sort of commitment on the part of Field Day requires a commitment on the part of the owner of the horse to be hauled.

In order to reserve a spot for your horse on the Field Day trailer (2005 Featherlite, warmblood-sized, 3 horse slant load with a step up entry) for a specific event, a $100 non-refundable deposit is required. The deposit will be applied to hauling charges or other Field Day expenses incurred on the trip. If the cost of hauling and other fees is less than the deposit, a refund will be given at the end of the trip.

Understandings:

  • At the agreed upon departure time, the horse to be hauled will be at the agreed upon place in whatever traveling gear the owner deems appropriate. Any tack or equipment that goes with the horse will be located conveniently to the loading area.
  • Tack, clothes and suitcases may be loaded into the tack room, hay and grain can be placed in the back tack of the trailer or the pickup truck bed.
  • The owner of the horse may ride in the truck pulling the rig.
  • When the trailer arrives at the destination, after off-loading the horse, it is appropriate to assist in the maintenance of the trailer, such as, but not limited to removing manure from the back of the trailer, refilling hay mangers and hay bags for the trip home, keeping debris out of the tack room and brushing the floor of the tack room to remove the majority of debris after all items are unloaded. The tack room will be kept neatly throughout the outing. It is understandable that occasionally it will be slightly disorganized, but as soon as reasonable, the tack room will be tidied.
  • Please ask for permission before borrowing any item of tack located in the trailer.
  • The repair of any damage that occurs to the trailer due to a non Field Day-owned horse, will be paid by the owner of the horse.
