"Only way that horses will win is to sit there and spend time with them. Show 'em that you're trying to help 'em. Love 'em. Talk to 'em. Get to know 'em. Now that's what you gotta do. You love 'em and they'll love you, too. People might call me crazy, but that's the way it is."

December 2008

Emma Morgan joins Field Day as Camie's assistant.

Emma grew up in Ottumwa, Iowa. She has worked around horses her entire life. She started western riding on appaloosas and quarter horses when she was five. She rode american saddlebreds and arabians and helped groom for shows. Throughout her younger years she rode mostly bareback. She did 4-H and started Pony Club at 15, riding friends' eventers and hunters. Her passion is dressage, influencing the horse in the most positive way possible. She has a Bachelors degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University. She is heading into her last semester of school to be a vet tech.

"She is simply a blessing for me and the horses she handles. Her quiet, competent demeanor sets them at ease. Her Animal Science and Vet Tech Training, combined with her experience riding so many different types of horses earlier in her life, makes her an observer of horses that few people twice her age are. I am delighted to have her working with me." Camie Stockhausen

He spent the first half of the season at training level where he won Hill n Hound Horse Trial and the always tough Maui Jim Wayne Horse Trial. Camie and "Eddie" made the jump up to Preliminary level at Heritage Park Horse Trials in Kansas City in August, finished double clear on cross country and jump fault-free in showjumping, to finish in second place. They qualified and competed in the Area IV Preliminary Championships as their second event at the level, and finished sixth among a tough field of seasoned competitors.

"Eddie" is on a roll. The 17h, 9 year old off track thoroughbred has won his last three horse trials. He came in first at Hill n Hound Horse trial with a 31.5 dressage, double clear xc and one rail in showjumping. At Heritage Park One Day Schooling event, he managed a 34.5 score on Prelim test B and then pulled one rail in showjumping and went double clear in xc, much to his rider's delight. At Maui Jim Wayne Horse Trial, he again pulled a 31.5 in dressage at training level and went double clear xc, and this time also went double clear in showjumping. Pictures from the three shows.

Savauge Brown came out and put on a show at Heritage Park Schooling Horse Trial. The gelding, who had in the past had some moments of disagreement regarding going forward politely, put in a smashing test to earn a 27.5. Then he never looked back. He went double clear in showjuming and xc to win his division. It was a happy day for Savauge, his owners and Camie, who look forward to future success at his new sport of eventing.

Field Day Success at 2005 USEA Area IV Eventing Championships

The 2005 USEA Area IV Championships were held on October 8th and 9th in Bloomington, IL. Field Day Trainer and Coach Camie Stockhausen qualified 3 horses to compete in the championships--Susan Brigham's Fabulouso (Ellisott) at Training level; Diane Hickman's Iowan President (Hoover) at Novice level, and her own Best Etiquette (Eddie) at Novice level. Two of her students, Rhonda Bennett and Denise Loewe competed very well at the Championships as well!

Rhonda won her open Beginning Novice division outright, finishing on her dressage score. They had a lovely quiet test and proceeded to make the stadium and XC look like a walk in the park. Congratulations Rhonda and JB's Schweetie (Gracie)!

Denise Loewe competed in the Beginning Novice Championships with her horse Synergy. They had a forward test and were rewarded with a nice score, including a 9 for their final halt. They, too, went double clear on stadium and cross country to finish on their dressage scores. This placed her in 4th in the Championships! Congratulations Denise and Gee!

On the horse front, Hoover was sold during the summer, but competed with his new owner at the open beginning novice level. His owner was very pleased to finish in 7th place in her very first completed horse trial. We are extremely pleased for Hayley Jones!

Eddie was pursuing his foxhunting career with Camie, so took the weekend off during the championships to rest up for the long 'hunting season ahead.

Elliott competed in the Training Championships, with a very tough group of 24 riders and horses. Camie and Elliott had a nice dressage test to earn a score of 33.5 penalty points to place them tied for 10th among the talented group. The stadium course was very tough, but Elliott made it look like child's play as he galloped around double clear, and the pair moved up to 7th.

Cross country on Sunday was a real challenge on a very hilly course with some nice speed, endurance, courage and adjustability questions.

Elliott was foot perfect around the course, finishing it 10 seconds under time. Only three horses, including Elliott, finished double clear on XC. Time was a very big factor on the XC on Sunday. Here Camie checks her watch before Elliott's hind feet have even touched the ground over the last fence!

Elliott and Camie finished 5th in the Training Championships. They congratulate the other competitors on a competition well-ridden and gratefully thank Susan Brigham for her friendship and support throughout a fun eventing season which both Camie and Elliott have sincerely enjoyed!
